In "The Courage to Survive," Dennis Kucinich, in fact, writes more about failure than success: his family's failure to find permanent housing (by age 12, he had lived in more than a dozen places, including a car); his failure to be elected student council president (he lost by three votes or, at least, that's what the good sisters, who were not too fond of him, claimed) and the failure of his first serious political bid (he lost his campaign for a seat on Cleveland City Council by 500 votes).
